Three blue one brown who makes amazing videos about maths found another amazing fact linking how masses collide with an amazing mathematical property. Since I don’t want to spoil anything watch it!

The youtuber 3blue1brown has a number of interesting posts. however often he is a bit fast for me and it seems handwaving.

Recently he made a fantastic video about solving the towers of hanoi. I did already know it is easy to spell out the solution in terms of recursion. However he showed some connection to binary and ternary numbers - which alone is funny. And finally that the solution also traverses the Sierpinsky triangle in part 2 which is surprising.

I embeded the videos after the “post” fold for convenient watching.

Having some extra time? Euclidea teaches euclidean geometry using puzzles. Only working with compass and straightedge. Too long time I practiced these.

RAND corporation has released some of their classics freely at RAND Classics. I did already know The Compleat Strategyst which is a classic. There are some more game theory books that I don’t know yet. And lots of cold war strategy - all worth a look.
